the Geep

And now for something completely different: Have 100k just laying around? Need a vehicle that can go everywhere – something military grade, but luxurious at the same time? A German Jeep of the highest rider – something different than the Range Rover Parking lot cruiser, and more unique than the Porsche Cayenne? Than this fossil is for you. Around for literally decades, and yet as desirable as ever – exclusive and absurdity wrapped into one complete package, the MERCEDES BENZ G CLASS has been refreshed to keep up with the times, unless of course you actually care about gas mileage or style. Well, actually, it does have style – sort of retro utilitarian mixed with some military dictator realness thrown in for good measure. Whereas today’s SUV customers want vehicles that drive like cars, this beast bucks the trend by driving like a truck. A heavy one. Essentially a brick on wheels driving down the road, it is neither efficient nor a thrill to drive, but it does stand out – and if uniqueness is how you get your thrills, than maybe this is an option. The refreshed changes are slight – LEDS – that sort of thing – which strikes me kind of odd – LEDs – something so trendy right now – affixed to something this enduring? It is like putting dangly earrings on the Mona Lisa. And equally as absurd. So of course, I like it. Not that I would want to own one, but to have some time to throw it around might be kinda of interesting. So who drives this thing? Not sure of the demographic. Here in LA they are fairly well represented, although not as much as one would expect for a city known for its absurdity in automotive choices. Then again, who knows – maybe the refresh will spark things a bit…

‘Geep’ is brilliant! Love it. Good for them for trotting this thing on into infinity. We all know that if it got redesigned, it would loose its cache. I’d never drive one but the jackass in me likes it.
