Am I dreaming?

You may not know this, but at night, when the Vehiclist tucks himself into bed, as the day’s events unfold and fade, and the mind is free to wonder for those last fleeting moments of the day, frequently, the Vehiclist has wondered about the upcoming 3 Series wagon. What will it look like and will it come to the U.S.? Well, the mind can rest. Here are the official shots of the new BMW 3 SERIES WAGON, and as you can see, it is a thing of beauty. And to make it all the more sweeter, YES, the wagon will be offered here. Look for it in about a year. ( I know – that is a long time, but it will be worth it). In Europe it will be available in the same configurations as the sedan ( Modern, Sport, Luxury with the 328 and 335 with an array of diesels and a hybrid ), but here, we will have to wait and see. Whatever – I am just so excited to see it officially, I can hardly contain myself. So, it was hard to edit the photos as well, and so this is a photo heavy post so you can share the joy. Now, as I sleep tonight, I will be wondering what Pickles, our savvy and clever commentator will make of it. He is, after all, a BMW wagon aficionado…

GOOD on BMW for seeing the light. As the iTs of past generations hold their value, it’s clear, a solid, perfectly balanced wagon still has the grip of the consumer. What’s ironically groovy about the latest iteration …is that it’s timeless. It looks as a BMW wagon should. Precise bodywork, no muffin-top overhangs- it’s an machined athlete on wheels. The proportions are perfect. The flourishes are nearly nil. No fake ‘mesh’ fog-light surrounds (an auto-design epidemic!), no gorp. It’s a car that will look current in 10 years. I love it. And I love that BMW sees the durability in the wagon -especially for the American market. Is the Touring officially ‘niche market’ enough to justify?
