In some European and Asian markets, SEAT ( the Spanish subsidiary of VW Group ) markets a version of the Jetta called the TOLEDO.  It sort of serves the same purpose as the American Jetta:  appealing to the same customer who thinks a plate of cold mashed potatoes is really exciting. You couldn’t make this thing more “beige” if you tried. And yet, I wonder, comparing the two, which is more attractive? Long time readers will note my affinity for European makes, and while that usually holds true, I have to say, this just leaves me cold. I am sure it is nice, well made and reliable, but the look is just too generic. Clean, unfussy and modern, yet wholly uninspired and completely devoid of excitement. Kind of like our Jetta, but more so, so it loses by default. One has to question the intelligence of creating an automotive cure for insomnia…
