Sargento cheese

Kia has been on a roll lately – especially in the design department.  The upcoming K9 ( or whatever they will call it ) and the new Optima are great – as is just about everything else in its lineup – everything is well designed and corporately recognizable without being too uniform. It is a balancing act that lots of makers can’t muster. So now that KIA has released pictures of its updated SORENTO, I have to agree that the success continues. And although my partner and I call it a ‘Sargento” when we see it on the road ( we think we are sooo clever), his sister has one and it really is a nice crossover. Roomy, agile and well made – it really makes sense. I don’t see that manu on LA’s streets – perhaps that don’t have enough FAB cache, but maybe this update will go some way toward changing it. Some of the soap bar curves have been turned into more manly protrusions ( ?) and the overall effect is just more aggressiveness and less ” Let’s take the brood down to Pitfire * ” And it all works…

The Vehiclist

* Pitfire was, sadly, a great easy place to get a good wood burning style pizza on the Westside of LA. But it must have been published somewhere as kid friendly, now is is over run with screaming little monsters, so much so that you’ll swear you are in Chuckie Cheese. Or as my mother likes to call it: Charl d’ frommage.
